What is an autoresponder?

An autoresponder is a newsletter you set up in advance to be sent automatically based on an event or date. In Inboxify, you can choose from two types of autoresponders:

• Signup: the email is automatically sent after someone has signed up and confirmed their signup.
• Birthday: the email is automatically sent on the contact's birthday or on another annually recurring date.

You set up autoresponders via Automations > Autoresponders. The overview shows all previously created autoresponders. For each autoresponder you can see the configured send time and which send rules apply. These send rules determine which contacts the autoresponder is for, for example only specific lists, tags or combinations of these.

For autoresponders of the Signup type, you can specify whether the email should be sent immediately after confirmation or only after a certain delay, for example a few hours, days or weeks later. You can schedule multiple autoresponders in sequence, creating a series of follow-up emails, also known as a drip campaign.

In addition, you can use Delivery mode to choose whether the email is sent immediately after the wait period or on a specific day of the week. With Send after wait period, the Send on weekdays only option prevents an autoresponder from going out on weekends. With Send on specific day after wait period, you select the desired day, for example if you've noticed your recipients are most active on a particular day. After the wait period, the email is sent at the configured time on the next occurrence of that day. If that time has already passed when the wait period ends, the send is pushed to the following week.

Autoresponders of the Birthday type are linked to the custom date field of your contacts. Inboxify looks at the day and month of this field and automatically sends the email on that date. Although this type is called "birthday", you can also use it for other annually recurring moments, such as an anniversary or customer milestone.
